Comment puis-je t'aimer mieux?I never promised to keep your heart warm under the moonlight-Comment puis-je t'aimer mieux? by Probably-you
that september darkness gave our secrets no contrast.
The cool water slept still while your expression grew ill,
And mine became yet another mess of blindfolded tears.
We stood quietly-
You with your hands tucked tightly in your pockets,
Looking for words to fill the heart broken air-
I'd kick rocks into the water,
wishing there were bigger ones around that would make a giant splash...
Maybe get us a little wet-
Maybe we would laugh,
Kill the silence with that-
But you would probably call me childish and smirk,
Then i would fake a smile, thinking you were teasing
And you'd look away and i'd know you weren't.
Then i'd walk back to the street where the dim lights have no mercy for non-waterproof mascara.
You'd slowly follow behind
And we would continue walking to your car
And i would slow down the pace as you sped up yours-
just a little.
You'd reach for the tips of my fingers
And i would grasp harder than you'd expect.
